SAP Business unleashed?

Yesterday, SAP unveiled the ‘new’ SAP Business Data Cloud with much fanfare.
With charismatic hand gestures, Christian Klein and others presented “SAP’s biggest launch in a DECADE” – according to Timo Eliott.

Or, as Klein is quoted in Handelsblatt, it is “one of the biggest innovations” SAP has ever produced.
Funnily enough, I heard a similar announcement EXACTLY a decade ago.
At that time I was reading about the “ORCA” project – now called SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC): “SAP’s biggest coup in business intelligence (BI) is imminent … SAP, which already has the largest share of the BI market, is going for the big punch”. Looks like that this prediction was wrong …
I listened to yesterday’s event: everyone was ‘very excited’ and yes, there was a lot of Hashtag#AI and Hashtag#Joule agents, so one “can unlock business value in ways we couldn’t before.”
But I didn’t really see anything new for us in the Hashtag#BI scene: Familiar SAC dashboards, SAP DataSphere is still called DataSphere and Databricks has been a close partner for some time.
All of this now under the new name “SAP Business Data Cloud” – if the slide below is not outdated.
What I am left with is a lot of professional produced, elaborate marketing-speak with little that is tangible. But maybe I don’t understand enough about AI and Joule … even though I’ve just been fasting for a week.😊
Other opinions?
Have a nice weekend
Lars
