Germany’s economy

It’s just too hot to write in-depth posts, so this week only a short Goody I Found.
Coloured maps – so-called choropleth maps – are not really my thing.
They distort the representation of information, because the size of the areas is usually not related to the data presented.
Last week, however, I found a choropleth map that amazed me:

I was flabbergasted when I saw which countries combined had the same GDP in total as Germany in 2024. And how “small” Germany is in comparison …
OK, the currency in which the GDP is stated is not a matter and the “T” for Trillion could be a challenge for us Europeans … but still:
simply impressive, isn’t it?

Yes, I would prefer to see the GDP per capita as an additional bar chart also – probably a different picture. 🙃
