But this time about truncating the 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗬-𝗮𝘅𝗶𝘀.

Germany’s new Home Secretary Alexander Dobrindt presented the 2024 “Verfassungsschutzbericht” on Tuesday this week. Of course, the topic of 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗺 was at the top of the agenda – both from the right and the left.

The minister used two large bar charts to visualize the development of extremism in Germany – see below.
One can see directly, that the value axes of the two diagrams were not harmonised. As a result, there was 𝗻𝗼 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 between right-wing and left-wing extremism in 2024. How to lie with charts at its best!

It’s a mystery to me which “state secretaries” prepare such diagrams for Mr Dobrindt. Not very confidence-building … but, hey, who cares in these times!

This can’t happen with our graphomate charts: They can be scaled identically very easily.
