SUCCESS-Rules by Hichert+Partner
Successful communication is based on binding rules. This also applies primarily to business communication. In reports, dashboards and presentations this a matter of clear messages, consistent standardization and a reduction to the essential.
These requirements are supported by very few reporting and visualization tools: Big, colorful and three-dimensional charts that no one can immediately understand are the rule rather than the exception.
Our graphomate Add-ons for Xcelsius enable you to visualize information quickly and easily in adherence with the SUCCESS Concept of Hichert+Partner. We offer you the first software to be certified by Hichert+Partner, representing the SUCCESS Concept in an SAP environment, but which can also be used in other business intelligence (BI) architectures or merely based on Excel.
The SUCCESS Concept, which was developed by Prof. Hichert in the last several years and since implemented in many companies, consists of seven rules on the uniform design of reports and presentations. The acronym SUCCESS is derived from the first letter of each of these rules. This is not merely limited to individual isolated measures, rather it defines the criteria for a complete and conclusive set of rules.
SAY: Convey messages
Do you have something to report? The rules of design pertaining to SAY concern the message in the narrower sense and highlighting it in the text or the exhibit.
UNIFY: Standardize content
Things that are the same are displayed the same way and things that are different are displayed differently. Clear rules of design facilitate the creation and the comprehension of reports.
CONDENSE: Concentrate information
A high level of information density makes it possible to visualize complex facts. First with an overview of the entire situation is it possible to assess the detail information correctly.
CHECK: Ensure quality
Recipients of reports expect the content of the data to be correct. But are the data also displayed correctly? Manipulated charts are a matter of fact in business communication.
ENABLE: Implement concept
SUCCESS is more than merely embellishing charts. SUCCESS intervenes in the culture of business communication, the practical implementation of which must be planned in detail.
SIMPLIFY: Avoid complication
SIMPLIFY makes reports easier to read. Removing ´noise´ colorful gimmicks, 3D effects, shading etc. and ´redundancy´ facilitates comprehension.
STRUCTURE: Group content
Reports and presentations must have a logical structure. In this way their contents can be recognized and understood better and faster.
